1. How do I prepare for my tan and what should I wear to my appointment? 
Preparing your skin is key for a flawless, long-lasting tan! Check out our “Pre Tan Prep ” tab for detailed prep instructions. Wear loose, dark clothing with long legs and long sleeves to your appointment for best results.

2. How many days before my event should I get a spray tan? 
For the best glow, get your tan about 2 days before your event. Brides, we suggest 2-3 days ahead of your big day. Going on vacation? Get your tan the day before you leave for that perfect glow!

3. I need an appointment on a day you're closed. Can you help? 
We offer "after hours"  request for an additional $50 fee. Just text us at 204-805-2145, and we'll see if we can fit you in!

 

4. Will my nails get stained?
Nope! We use a nail protectant and clean each nail post-appointment. Make sure to get all your beauty appointments done before your tan to keep things neat!

 

5. Can I tan nude while on my period? 
Absolutely! We’re all women here – it's totally normal!

6. Is it safe to get a spray tan if I’m pregnant or nursing?
Yes, it’s safe! However, we always recommend consulting with your doctor just to be sure.

7. How long will my SMUG Spray Tan last?
Our SMUG Classic Tan lasts about 7-10 days. For the longest-lasting glow, try our SMUG LUXE Tan, which can last 9-12 days with proper aftercare. Check out our “services” tab for more details!

8. What is your cancellation policy? 
Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice will incur a full service charge. Thanks for understanding and respecting our time!

9. Will my tan stain my clothing or bedsheets? 
We suggest wearing loose, long pants and sleeves right after your tan and while you sleep. There might be a bit of bronzer transfer initially, but it should wash out after your first shower. 

 

10. Is it okay to wear white clothing after a spray tan?
Wait until after your first rinse and two soap showers before wearing white to ensure all the bronzer is washed off. Better safe than stained!

11. What products should I avoid to make my tan last longer?  
Avoid creamy white soaps like Dove and Oil of Olay, products with alcohol, retinol, and other harsh ingredients. Use the spray tan-safe products we recommend to keep your tan looking fabulous!

12. Why are some areas of my body a bit darker than others? 
Dry skin absorbs more spray tan, leading to darker spots. Stay hydrated and moisturize well to keep your tan even and gorgeous.

13. Can I shower before my SMUG spray tan session?  
It’s best to skip showers on the day of your appointment. If you must, rinse with water only. We want your skin to be a perfect canvas!

14. What should I do if my skin feels itchy post-tan?  
Itchy skin might mean it wasn’t prepped or moisturized properly. Drink plenty of water and use our recommended spray tan-safe moisturizer. If itching persists, consult your doctor.

15. Can the spray tan solution stain my hair? 
We provide a hair cap to protect your hair. If any solution gets on your hair, it will wash out in 1-2 washes. No need to worry!

 

16. Why do my tan results sometimes differ from one appointment to the next?
The condition and pH balance of your skin can change, affecting the tan's outcome. Your skin’s mood can shift, just like yours!

17. Can any body shape get a spray tan? 
Yes girl ! Spray tans are great for everyone, regardless of size or shape. We customize your tan to fit your body perfectly. Everyone deserves to glow!

18. Is it okay to get a spray tan with eyelash extensions?
Definitely! Just get your extensions done before your tan appointment. Flaunt those lashes along with your glow!

 

19. Why does my tan look orange?
We use high-grade DHA for a natural tone, but sometimes a high pH balance can cause an orange tint. Use a pH-balancing body wash like Summers Eve to fix this.

20. Why do the palms of my hands look discolored after a tan?  We don’t spray the palms of your hands, so they may have touched your body before your first rinse. Try to avoid skin-on-skin contact before rinsing.

 

21. How can I reduce discoloration on my palms? 
Try rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, or Windex on a cotton ball. A quick fix for those tan-free palms!

 

22. Why should I avoid getting wet or sweating after my tan? 
Sweat and water can prevent the tan from developing properly. Think of it as letting your tan bake to perfection – no peeking!

23. What’s the typical duration of a spray tan session?
A SMUG Spray Tan session usually takes about 20-30 minutes.

 

24. Will my spray tan transfer onto my wedding dress?  
To minimize transfer, get your tan 2-3 days before your wedding. Make sure to rinse thoroughly and wash with soap before wearing your dress. We can’t guarantee no transfer, That said we also offer a CLEAR solution!

25. Can I hit the gym after getting a spray tan? 
You can resume workouts after your first rinse, but remember that sweating and friction can fade your tan. Keep that glow intact!

26. Is a spray tan safe for those with sensitive skin, eczema, or severe asthma? 
It’s always best to consult your doctor if you have any concerns. Your health and glow are both important!

27. What’s the main ingredient in your spray tan solution? 
DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is the main ingredient. It’s the secret behind your fabulous, sunless tan!

28. Why do some parts of my tan seem uneven or streaky after my first rinse?
Unevenness may be due to bronzer that wasn’t fully rinsed off. Jump back in the shower and rinse thoroughly to even it out.

29. Is it okay to swim in a pool, ocean, or hot tub after my spray tan? 
Wait at least 24 hours after your tan has developed before swimming. Salt and chemicals can dry your skin and cause your tan to fade faster. Enjoy your tan longer by waiting!

30. How can I even out my tan lines?
Add "tan line correction" to your appointment, and we’ll do our best to color match and blend those lines.

31. Does a spray tan offer any sun protection? 
Nope, your spray tan doesn’t protect you from UV rays. Always wear SPF to keep your skin safe. SMUG carries Sun Bum products for all of your spray tan safe ,sunscreen needs! Glow responsibly!

 

32. Is it okay to get a spray tan more than once a week? 
Your tan lasts 7-10 days, so we recommend waiting 10 days between tans. This ensures your old tan is fully gone and your skin is fresh for a new glow. Fresh skin, fresh tan!

33. Will my tattoos be affected by a spray tan? 
Nope! The spray tan only affects the top layer of your skin, so your tattoos will stay just as stunning.
